Hi guys, I wanted to start off by giving a sincere THANK YOU for participating in our first ever Broomstick League server stress test. We had an awesome time playing the game with all of you.
We have been reviewing your feedback, ideas and suggestions and have identified a ton of improvements we want to make - this kind of feedback is incredibly helpful. The point of yesterday’s playtests was to take a good look at the game’s matchmaking system and test it in a live environment. This was our first opportunity to see how the system would handle a few hundred players and as expected, we noticed a bunch of issues:
Players were frequently being put into empty matches with 5 other AI bots instead of joining another match in progress, or joining up with other players first
Servers were not properly backfilling, so if a player would leave a match, another human player would never get to fill that spot again, leaving it perpetually empty
Joining a match as a party did not work at all
Players were often being added to servers that were not in their region, eg. players who should be in a USEast server getting put into a Europe server, resulting in very bad pings
Getting the matchmaking properly sorted is our top priority and something we are working on today.
Next up, we are reviewing the gameplay feedback and quality of life suggestions you guys have made. There’s a lot of great ideas in here and we are combining those with our own internal ideas and wishlists. This means that we have a lot of work ahead of us, and we’ll begin another round of gameplay iteration right away. Overall, I was extremely happy with this first test, it went great and we got exactly what we needed to make this game even better.
Once again, thanks for playing and we’ll see you for the next playtest!
